![]() WitW is more of a mix of ground and air, with a very small amount of naval. WitE is the opposite, with land being 90% of the game, and the air part being something you can easily ignore (and the naval is totally abstract). UV/WitP/WitP AE are definitely air/sea games first and foremost, with the land game minor in comparison. ![]() You probably understand the units/weapons/situation already which will help in the game. Normally I'd say buy the game on the subject that most interests you, because you are more likely to stick with it. On the other hand, if you like having a forum where you can ask questions and get help, WitP AE is the active forum at Matrix. WitP AE brought the scale back down to UV level, IIRC, so it's truly massive. WitP was just an enhanced version of Uncommon Valor taken to the entire Pacific (although UV uses 30 miles hexes and WitP uses 50 or 60). As such, there's a lot less to deal with than WitP and it's only $19.99. It covers the action near Guadalcanal in 42-43. Uncommon Valor was the first game in the War in the Pacific series. If you've never played a GG game before, I'll throw out another idea.
